Looking back: SJA/KVVAK Lacquer Symposium 3 July 2022
On 3 July 2022 the SJA and the Royal Asian Art Society (Koninklijke Vereniging van Vrienden der Aziatische Kunst) collaborated to organize a series of lectures on the occasion of the exhibition in the Rijksmuseum, "Modern Japans Lak" (Modern Japanese Lacquer). The four speakers - Dave van Gompel, Jan Dees, Menno Fitski and Chin-Ling Wang - presented interesting lectures on various aspects of Japanese lacquer and then took part in a panel discussion. The exhibition in the Rijksmuseum that shows exquisite collection of Japanese lacquer from the period 1890-1950 will be on display in the Philips wing of the Rijksmuseum from until 4 September. The lectures are recorded and will be made available on our website with English subtitles.
