Andon 100
December 2015

EDITORIAL: Andon 100, now in your hands, is the last issue of Andon in its present form, as we will be saying good-bye to our designer Robert Schaap. This seemed a good occasion to delve into the Society's past: Arendie Herwig's article looks at the history of the Societies various periodicals, while Inge Klompmakers' interview with Robert explores the latter's long-standing engagement with Andon.

However, most of this special issue is dedicated the richly-illustrated article on woodblock-printed design books (zuan) by Scott Johnson, a sequel to his contribution to the Taishó issue, Andon 97. Scott's article is an homage to creativity in printing and design - very appropriate, we thought, for this milestone issue of Andon.

Innovation and adventure are associated with the Monkey, the zodiac sign for 2016. This augurs well for the launch of a new Andon! On behalf of the editorial team I would like to wish you a healthy and prosperous New Year.
