EDITORIAL: It is with an almost appalling delay that this issue of Andon reaches you. The past coupIe of months have been very busy ones for the Society. Much energy was given to the celebration of the Society's 50th anniversary, including the exhibition and symposium devoted to Japanese art in an age of transition .
Nevertheless, this cannot pass as an altogether valid excuse for the delay in bringing out this issue of our magazine. The immediate reasons for this are, in fact, rather to be found beyond the Society's official celebrations, namely the almost absolute lack of contributions. Yet, for the moment, I hope this issue wil! give you again some deepening of your understanding and appreciation of Japanese art.
