EDITORIAL: At last. .. . one hears exclaimíng... . the long expected double issue containing the presentations of the Society's anniversary symposium 'Meiji Japanese arts in an age of transition'.  Organizing the symposium was a most exciting job, but getting the proceedings ready for publication proved no small task. Nevertheless the editorial staff is pleased to offer an interesting collection of well-illustrated essays, and hopes you will enjoy reading them.
