Publishing in Andon

We welcome submissions of original articles on any aspect of Japanese art and visual culture. Andon has a broad international audience including scholars, collectors, students and art dealers. Submissions ideally contribute to the scholarly field, are object-oriented and accessible to non-specialists. Andon is a platform not only for established scholars but we also expressly invite young scholars, collectors and first-time authors to share their research and insights. If in doubt about the suitability of the subject you wish to discuss, do not hesitate to contact the editors. Furthermore, being a journal on art, we set great store by visualisation and expect submissions to contain relevant images.

  • The time from submission to publication is, if accepted, generally no more than 6 months

*Copyright fees (if applicable) are however the responsibility of authors. There are options for funding for students and early career researchers.
